Meet Bailie.

Bailie (she/her) has been a tattoo artist for almost seven years and she is the owner of Slanted Hand Tattoo! She has always felt like an artist, so pursing that in college was a no-brainer. Bailie graduated with her Bachelors of Fine Arts, majoring in Drawing + Painting. With a formal education under her belt and a love for tattooing, she set out to make her mark on the world (literally and figuratively). She describes her style as "Occult Lisa Frank" so creative, colorful, and whimsical are what she adores most! Bailie values, and prioritizes, a super welcoming and safe place for all to enter. Not only is she a stickler for keeping things sterile and sanitized, but she is fully committed to meeting clients wherever they are at, helping people feel comfortable and confident in their skin, and helping them leave the studio feeling better than when they came in -- all are truly welcome at Slanted Hand Tattoo.

Aftercare Instructions

Ideally try and keep the derm on for about 3-5 days, if possible. It is okay to use the derm bandage for only 24hrs.

If the bandage comes off before the 3 day period then use of an ointment like Aquaphor or Tattoo Goo will be needed. If the bandage is removed after the 3-5 recommended days then you can use a water based lotion like Lubriderm, Cetaphil or Jergens.

To remove the bandage, peel it back SLOWLY from the edge or corner over itself, not straight away from the body. Once the bandage is removed:

  1. Clean the tattoo with a clear, unscented antibacterial liquid soap and warm water. Take care to remove all traces of blood and plasma, as this is what causes scabs to form. *DO NOT scrub the tattoo, especially with a washcloth.*
  2. Pat dry with a clean paper towel and let the tattoo air dry for 10-15 minutes; wait for the skin to start to feel a little tight and dry. It is very important to let your tattoo breathe like this after it gets wet to allow for any excess moisture to evaporate out.
  3. Once dry, apply ointment. Only use enough to make it shine, a little goes a long way. Do not rebandage the tattoo.

Repeat the cycle of washing, drying, and ointment to the tattoo about 3-4 times a day

for the next three days or while the tattoo still feels tender. Around the 4th day (or when the tattoo starts to peel) you can switch to an unscented, uncolored, water based lotion like Lubriderm, Jergens, or Cetaphil. Apply lotion 2 times a day for the remainder of the two weeks. Make sure to continue washing your tattoo in between each lotion application.
